FASHION SHOW!

ALTERATIONS

After putting the dress on the model we decided to make alterations and have a half zip and a really low back. IT IS FINISHEDDD!

FINAL PIECE

I am really happy with my final dress, It was hard to sew because of the weight of the fabric and i struggled with my topstitching and facing but I managed to do it

FINAL DESIGNS

Now we had done 1 group members pattern piece, Another group members toile it was time to do the final group members dress.
I went to a fabric shop at home and got a really good deal on some black cotton drill

PASS IT ON

The pattern I cut Was for my group members Varaj
Below is the design I was given. It wasnt too hard to do just full of panels.

TOILES

Today our group started on our pattern pieces for the next group members design so we could start our toiles

Machine Work

Today we continued making samples for our fabric file
I made 2 pockets I am very proud of

Today in our lesson we had to make a pattern piece of our block dresses and then mould them with celotape to a manniquinne.
Doing this and then cutting it off the stand created firm structures, and after this we had to cut into these pieces and make pattern pieces for them.
This exercise helped us creating 2-d pattern pieces from a 3d structure when it is usually the other way round. It was very helpful this way

SEWING FILE

While making a collection we also have produce a sewing file.
This consists of making samples of hems, Zips and pockets.
I havent used an industrial machine for quite a while so it took alot of time but I am slowly getting there

IDEAS

Today our group decided to pass around our designs, Everybody in the group was happy with all the designs for the collection. My Dress is the turquoise one below, Next we will rotate each design and start pattern pieces for another group members design.

PATTERN CUTTING

So Today We did Pattern Cutting

PATTERN CUTTING IS NOT MY STRONG POINT, However practice makes perfect!
The task was to cut out a block dress and from there whenever we are makig a dress we can refer to our block dress pattern.

I am so happy with how it went, I am picking up new skills

FABRIC FABRIC FABRIC!!!

Friday 12th Feb

So today we took a trip to Central London to collect lots of fabric samples for our fabric files.
Im sure we walked about 10 miles and went to about 20 shops. However it was a useful experience, finding out where is cheapest, Who does the best deals, ect
Overall a Very insightful day!

Semester B BEGINS!

Thursday 11th Feb

So today we were split into groups of 5

Brief was to make a collection of 5 dresses working as a group so one person makes a design, passes it on to the next person who makes the pattern for it and the next person will create the garment.

It sound like a fun project but we will have to be well organised! Our group have chosen a 60'S THEME with a modern twist using block colours, clean cut mini dresses.

I did some research and here is some inspiration I love <3>
